The creation of Hazrat Hawwa (AS) marked the beginning of the human family. Together, Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) lived in Paradise before facing a test that eventually led them to Earth. The angels asked why a creation that might spread corruption and shed blood would be placed there while they constantly worshipped and glorified Allah. In response, Allah simply said:
“Indeed, I know that which you do not know.”
(Quran 2:30)
This verse teaches an important lesson: Allah’s wisdom is perfect, even when human beings or angels cannot fully understand His plan.
Allah then created Hazrat Adam (AS) from clay. The Quran mentions that Adam (AS) was formed from earth before Allah breathed into him from the soul that He created for him. With this, the first human being came to life by the command of Allah. Unlike every other creation, Adam (AS) was honored with special knowledge and a unique status.
To demonstrate this honor, Allah taught Hazrat Adam (AS) the names of things—knowledge that the angels did not possess. When Allah asked the angels to name those things, they admitted that they only knew what Allah had taught them. Adam (AS), however, was able to answer because Allah had given him this knowledge. Through this event, Allah showed the high status of knowledge in Islam and the special position of the first human.
The creation of Hazrat Adam (AS) was not an accident or a random event. It was part of Allah’s divine plan for humanity. From the very beginning, mankind was created with purpose—to worship Allah, live according to His guidance, and act responsibly on Earth.
Allah’s Command and Iblis’ Refusal
After creating Hazrat Adam (AS) and honoring him with knowledge, Allah commanded all the angels to prostrate before Adam (AS). This prostration was not an act of worship, but a sign of respect and obedience to Allah’s command. The angels immediately obeyed without hesitation because they always follow Allah’s instructions.
However, one being refused to obey—Iblis. Although he was present among the angels, he was not an angel himself. According to the Quran, Iblis was one of the jinn, a creation made from fire. Instead of submitting to Allah’s command, he became proud and arrogant.
When Allah asked why he refused to prostrate, Iblis replied that he believed he was superior to Adam (AS). He said that he had been created from fire, while Adam (AS) had been created from clay. Because of this pride, Iblis considered himself better than the first human.
The Quran records his words:
“I am better than him. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay.”
(Quran 7:12)
Iblis’ arrogance and disobedience caused him to lose Allah’s mercy. As a result, Allah expelled him from His mercy. Before leaving, Iblis asked for respite until the Day of Judgment. He vowed that he would try to mislead the descendants of Hazrat Adam (AS) and tempt them away from the straight path.
From that moment, the struggle between truth and temptation began. The story reminds believers that Satan’s greatest weapon is pride and deception, while the best protection is faith, humility, and obedience to Allah.
The account of Hazrat Adam (AS) and Iblis teaches one of the most important lessons in Islam: knowledge and obedience raise a person’s status, but arrogance can lead to destruction.
The Creation of Hazrat Hawwa (AS) and Life in Paradise
After creating Hazrat Adam (AS), Allah knew that he should not live alone. Allah created Hazrat Hawwa (AS) to be his companion, bringing comfort, love, and harmony into his life. Together, they became the first human family and the beginning of all mankind.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explained that Hawwa (AS) was created from Adam (AS). Their relationship was built on companionship, mercy, and mutual support, showing the importance of family in Islam from the very beginning.
Allah allowed Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) to live in Jannah (Paradise), where they enjoyed countless blessings. They were free to eat and drink from its abundant fruits and enjoy everything it offered. However, Allah gave them one clear instruction: they were not to approach or eat from a particular tree.
As Allah says in the Quran:
“O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat freely wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, or you will be among the wrongdoers.”
(Quran 2:35)
This command was a test of obedience. Allah had provided everything they needed, asking them only to avoid one tree. Like every test given by Allah, it carried wisdom and reminded mankind that true success comes from following His guidance.
At this point, Iblis had not forgotten his promise to mislead the children of Hazrat Adam (AS). After being expelled because of his arrogance, he began looking for a way to deceive Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS). This would become the first temptation in human history and an important lesson for every generation that followed.
The First Test, Repentance, and the Beginning of Life on Earth
Although Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) were living peacefully in Paradise, Iblis had not forgotten his promise to mislead them. Driven by pride and hatred, he whispered to them and tried to convince them that eating from the forbidden tree would bring great rewards. He falsely claimed that it would make them immortal or grant them an everlasting kingdom.
The Quran explains that Iblis repeatedly deceived them with false promises until they eventually ate from the tree that Allah had forbidden. The moment they disobeyed Allah’s command, they realized their mistake. They became aware of their error and immediately felt deep regret for what they had done.
Unlike Iblis, who responded to his sin with arrogance, Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) turned to Allah with sincere repentance. They admitted their mistake without making excuses and prayed with humility:
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”
(Quran 7:23)
Allah, the Most Merciful, accepted their repentance and forgave them. This moment became one of the greatest lessons in Islam—that no matter how great a person’s mistake may be, the door to Allah’s mercy remains open for those who sincerely repent and return to Him.
After accepting their repentance, Allah commanded Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) to leave Paradise and begin their lives on Earth. This was not simply a punishment but part of Allah’s divine plan from the very beginning. Earth would become the home of humanity, where people would be tested through faith, good deeds, and obedience to their Creator before returning to Him in the Hereafter.
The descent of Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) marked the beginning of human history. From them came every nation, language, and civilization that exists today, making their story the foundation of mankind according to Islam.
